SUNY Upstate Perfusion Program

Overview

The SUNY program provides rigorous academic, clinical and professional training. Academically, SUNY graduates have a 100% pass rate on the ABCP national certification exam. For the last 10 years SUNY grads have scored 10-15 points above the national average on these critical examinations. Clinically, SUNY grads benefit from intensive high fidelity simulation training. Each class of students spends 650 hours in simulation and will be uniquely prepared for their operating room experience. Each student will train at a minimum of 4 clinical affiliates hospitals and perform 150-200 clinical cases before graduation. Professional attitudes and behaviors which will enhance your career are taught, emphasized and modeled in the program. Additionally, SUNY students complete a Capstone Experience or a Research Thesis demonstrating knowledge and skills in a focus area above and beyond the minimum entry level education. SUNY students have opportunities to conduct research, present at conferences and publish in peer reviewed journals. The program has a rolling admission with interviews January-March.
