The mission is to provide information regarding the various centrifugal pumps on the market. I am asked to evaluate the BPX 80 and affinity pump heads. Feedback from my own institution is that the bpx 80 has a high priming volume generates too much heat and causes too much hemolysis. The affinity looks more like a diagonal pump and the numbers(provided by the manafacturer) look more promising. What thing I don't understand is looking at the numbers provided it appears the affinity has more hydraulic power than the bpx 80(radial design centrifugal pump). I am looking for a general consensus among perfusionists about the bpx 80 so I can bring back this info to my colleagues(students) and I am also looking for anyone with exp. with the new affinity pump head. Thanks a bunch.
