i have 2 questions:
1. does anyone have a comparison of flow rates and tempreture during bypass
2.during bypass, what is more advantageous in decreasing pressures; a vaporiser,or decreasing flow rate below normal levels??

Dear Aleem

you have a good question, to decrease the pressure during the cardiopulmonay bypass i would suggest  you to give some anesthetic  drugs instead of decreasing the normal flow rate. Because decreasing the flow for quite some time will definately reduce the body perfusion.

1. The higher your flow, the faster your change in temperature.

2. Using the gas will give a slow response and should be used to help maintain pressure at a given level. You may need to drop the flow temporarily if the pressure becomes too high (allow the effect of the the gas to 'catch up').
