They are experienced a possible lower concentration from the "older or prior" heparin that they have used. According to him, this new heparin is nation and possibly internationally used. SO, my question is if anyone else has any input on the new heparin, why the change and where I can find more info about it. Thanks]]>

I am doing some research into this as a cardioplegia agent as opposed to its intended use as an organ preservative. We typically give 2L initial dose; normally no further delivery is required. Blood gas analysis post cardioplegia reveals a serious drop in sodium (usually &lt;126 mmol/L) accompanied by a drop in calcium (&lt;0.96mmol/L). <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</SPAN>While the HTK solution is designed to do this for organ preservation, I am curious as to its effects when introduced systemically through cardioplegia delivery (usually antegrade). <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</SPAN>Any data concerning the use of HTK as a cardioplegia solution would be appreciated. </FONT></P>]]>
